Cystinosis is a rare inherited disease occurring in about 1 in 200,000 births within developed countries. It occurs when the mechanism removing excess cystine (an amino acid) breaks down. However, these days with better understanding and earlier diagnosis, people with cystinosis are able to lead a longer, fuller life. It is the Foundation’s aim to aid researchers and the cystinosis community to strive for continued improvements.

The normal line-up of the band is: accordion, fiddle, keyboards and drums. For the larger occasions a six- or seven-piece band can be supplied including 2-3 fiddles, flute and second accordion. A piper can be included in the team for weddings and other special occasions. We have lots of contacts in the piping world, including my father-in-law who is a first-rate ex-Black Watch piper. Gay Gordons London was inaugurated in London, 22nd October 2005 to offer Scottish Country Dancing to the LGBT community and their friends. Kafoozalum, a professional Scottish Country Dance Band, was formed by Peter Jenkins in 1978. Their usual line-up is accordion, fiddle & piano; the band comes complete with a Caller to guide you through the dances.
Licence to Ceilidh are a Young, Energetic, Professional ceilidh band based in London. Coisir Lunnainn is the oldest Scottish Gaelic choir, founded in 1891. We meet on Tuesday nights from 7 pm at the Crown Court Church of Scotland hall in Covent Garden. New choristers and visitors are always welcome. Knowledge of Gaelic isn’t necessary – instruction in Gaelic and music is given at choir.

PGT are a group who meet regular in London and love to reel. Reeling is a type of Scottish dancing. It is social, energetic, easy to learn and great fun. Reeling is probably the closest form of Scottish dancing to how dances were done in the 17th century.The dancing is more fluid and less ballet like compared to the formal Royal Scottish Country Dance type style, although it tends to be more defined than barn dances or ceilidh dancing.
