Incase you missed our online events for World Gaelic Week 2024, you can find them here:
Lauren MacLeod (20/02/2024)
Lauren Macleod was born and raised in Laxdale on the Isle of Lewis. She began singing in primary school through the Mod, which instilled an interest in song, poetry and music. Today, she lives in London, where she studied for a master’s degree in vocal performance at the Royal Academy of Music. She now works as an opera singer but has not put aside her Gaelic roots. She has performed Gaelic songs in concert halls alongside Mozart and Mahler, and is of the firm opinion that they have just as much right to be there.
Join Lauren Macleod for some Gaelic songs in this relaxed Facebook live event. Lauren will be discussing and performing some touchstones of the genre and some of her personal favourites.
Màrtainn & Màiri (22/02/024)
Martin and Mary have been working closely together for two years on a song, music and story project about the Fianna, which will be seen at Celtic Connections 2024.
Their shared South Uist heritage is precious to both of them, and they bring this understanding for a night of songs and stories rooted in tradition but alive, creative and contemporary. What an opportunity for the language!
