Grand Junction

Grand Junction is located just a 10-minute walk from Paddington Station, alongside the Grand Union Canal at St Mary Magdalene Church. The church is recognized as one of the finest neo-Gothic churches in the country. Managed by the Paddington Development Trust, the Grand Junction project aims to open the church as a venue that fosters a vibrant community and arts program. This Grade 1 Listed church was constructed in the 1860s and 70s by the renowned Victorian architect G E Street, who collaborated with the best artists and craftsmen of the time to create a masterwork that integrates architecture, sculpture, stained glass, and arguably features the most remarkable painted ceiling in an English parish church. Following a period of disrepair in the mid-20th century, the church has been meticulously restored, and a new building designed by Dow Jones Architects has been added. This new facility includes a café, learning studio, and visitor amenities.
