Work Christmas Party in London: Book a Ceilidh Night

Looking for a Christmas party idea that gets the whole team talking? Bring your colleagues to the London Ceilidh Club for three hours of Scottish dancing to a live band, with a caller who teaches every dance as you go. No experience needed, no awkward small talk, and everyone ends up laughing.

Tickets are £27, or £21 concession, and our winter nights sell out, so book your group early.

Why a ceilidh works for a work party

  • Everyone joins in. The caller walks you through each dance before the music starts, so beginners and the two-left-feet brigade are dancing within minutes.
  • It mixes people up. Ceilidh dances swap partners and move through the set, so you’ll meet colleagues you’ve never spoken to.
  • It’s easy to organise. Pick a date, buy your tickets together, turn up. We look after the band, the caller and the hall.
  • It’s good value. One ticket price covers a three-hour night out with live music, and there’s no minimum group size.

What happens on the night

Doors open in the evening and dancing runs from 8pm to 11pm. A live band plays traditional Scottish and Irish tunes while the caller teaches dances such as the Gay Gordons, the Dashing White Sergeant and Strip the Willow. There’s time for a drink and a breather between dances, and by the end of the night most groups are asking when the next one is.

Our venues

  • Cecil Sharp House, Camden: our home since 1998, with a big sprung-floor hall and a café selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.
  • London Scottish House, Westminster: a short walk from Westminster and Victoria, with a bar inside the hall.
  • Grand Junction, Paddington: a striking church venue near Paddington station.

Christmas party FAQs

Do we need to know how to dance?

No. A caller teaches every dance before it starts, so complete beginners are welcome.

What should we wear?

Whatever you’re comfortable dancing in, with shoes you can move in.

Is there a minimum group size?

No. Come as two or twenty. Larger groups should book early, as our December nights sell out.

Can we have the venue to ourselves?

Our nights are public events, so your team dances alongside other groups. That’s a big part of the fun.
